THIRD STONE HOUSE RENOVATION WORKSHOP

Associations Dragodid from Rijeka and Pomalo from Komiža are organizing a workshop on sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage called: Drywall mentors. The drywall construction technique is an intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia, and has been included in the UNESCO list of intangible heritage of mankind. The aim of the workshop is a one-day training of participants for the protection and restoration of dry stone roofs. The workshop will be held outdoors at the Dragodid location, about 1 hour hiking from the center of Komiža, on 31th of May, from 10:00 AM to 21:00 PM. Participation in the workshops is free. Workshop participants are required to bring work gloves and drinking water. The workshop leader is Ana Burić, M.Sc. NINTH DRY STONE WALL BUILDING WORKSHOP

Association Domino from Zagreb, IƩƩA Island School of Social Autonomy and Association Pomalo from Komiža organize a workshop on sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage called: Dry stone wall construction workshop. The technique of building dry stone walls is an intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia and has been included in the UNESCO list of intangible heritage of mankind. The aim of the workshop is to train the participants for the restoration and protection of dry stone walls. The workshops will be held outdoors at the location Borovik, on 4th of April 2024, from 12:00 to 17:30 PM. Participation in the workshop is free. Workshop participants are required to bring work gloves and drinking water. The workshop leaders are Igor Mataić, M.Sc. Mining Engineer and Dr. Sc. Civil Engineering, and Tonći Darlić, entrepreneur. FOURTH OLIVE CULTIVATION WORKSHOP

Association Pomalo from Komiža organizes a workshop on sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of sustainable development of agriculture, fisheries and tourism called: Olive cultivation workshop. Although the mild climate of the island favors the growth and prosperity of olives, the cultivation of olives on the island of Vis has long been neglected. Only in the 1920’s did the olive growing gain in importance, and it gradually became one of the basic economic activities of the local communities of the island of Vis. The aim of the workshop is to train the participants for olive harvesting. The workshop will be held outdoors at the location OPG Treva in Podhumje, October 15th and 23nd  2023, from 09:00 AM to 14:00 PM. Participation in the workshop is free. The workshop leaders are Andrija Vitaljić and Lucija Ligero Martinez, Bachelor of pedagogy. WILD EDIBLE PLANTS WORKSHOP

Association Pomalo from Komiža organizes a workshop on the sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of sustainable development of fisheries, agriculture, and tourism under the title: Preparation of capers and samphire. Since Ancient times, capers and samphire have been an aromatic and healthy addition in culinary. Unlike capers from which we harvest the bud, in the case of samphire it is the leaves that are harvested. These bushy plants grow from rock cracks in the immediate vicinity of the sea and are harvested from June to September. After picking, they are immersed in seawater for a period of few days, after which the plants are preserved in a mixture of vinegar, salt, and water. The aim of the workshop is to train visitors of the island of Vis to prepare pickled capers and samphire. The workshop will be held outdoors on Riviera of Komiža, on June 7th, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00 PM. Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The workshop leaders are Maria Fiamengo, Bachelor of Hotel Management and Adis Lemeš, fisherman.

THIRD FISH SALTING WORKSHOP

Association Pomalo from Komiža organizes a workshop on sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of sustainable development of fisheries, agriculture and tourism called: Fish Salting Workshop. Small blue fish is the basic substance in the traditional processing industry based on salting and canning. Moreover, Komiža was the site of among the first fish can factories in the world. The aim of the workshop is affirmation of fishery and training of the participants for salting of sardines and anchovies. The workshop will be held outdoors on Riviera of Komiža, on June 30th, 2022, from 18:00 to 20:00 PM. Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The workshop leaders are Maria Fiamengo, Bachelor of Hotel Management and Lucia Ligero Martinez, Bachelor of Pedagogy.

SIXTH CULTURE WORKSHOP

Association Pomalo from Komiža organizes a workshop on the sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of culture, art, education and lifelong learning under the name: Evening of poetry, prose and musical improvisations. Poets Katarina Fiamengo, Velimir Foretić, Filip Grinvald, Karmen Kruc and Paulo Bjažević will present poetry. Writers Saša Savanović and Shaun Dann will present prose. During the evening, threw  musical improvizations you will be led by Maša Ljotić Plichta, Ronja Krottmayer and Vjekoslav Ivanušić. The aim of the workshop is to enrich cultural offer of the island of Vis outside the tourist season. The workshop will be held on location Bašta in Komiža, on May 27th 2023, from 19:00 to 24:00. ROMAN SPRING CLEAN-UP

Association Pomalo from Komiža is organizing an action of sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of protection and preservation of the environment and nature called: Roman Spring Clean-up. During July of 2021, the drain from the pool at the foot of the Roman Spring was jammed. The problem of clogging drain intensifies after each storm, due to the deposition of sea grass and soil. Under such circumstances, the spring drain is clogged by a mixture of poorly permeable muddy material. The aim of the workshop is to clean-up the Roman spring from accumulations of seaweed and mud. The action will take place on November 28th 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participation in the action is free. Participants are required to bring work gloves and buckets. The action leader is Igor Mataić, M.Sc. Mining Engineering and Dr.Sc. Civil Engineering. SEVENTH VITICULTURE WORKSHOP

The Pomalo Association from Komiža organizes a workshop on the sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of sustainable development of agriculture, fisheries, and tourism under the name: Viticulture Workshop. Cultivation of vines is one of the basic economic activities of local communities on the island of Vis. The island of Vis has been known for its quality wines since ancient times. This time we are picking the varieties Plavac and Plavac mali, to produce red wine. The goal of the workshop is a one-day training of the participants of the workshop in grape picking. CAROB CULTIVATION WORKSHOP

Association Pomalo from Komiža organizes a workshop on the sustainable development of the island of Vis in the field of ​​sustainable development of fishery, agriculture, and tourism named: Carob harvesting workshop. The aim of the workshop is to affirm the cultivation, picking and usage of carob on the island of Vis. In Komiža, centuries-old carob plantations can be found and Komiža carob is an autochthonous variety of recognizable quality. Carob is an extremely healthy food product. Along with carob flour, used in making desserts, cakes and bread, carob pods are used to produce a valued alcoholic drink Rogačica brandy. The workshop will be held outdoors, at the location Rogači in Komiža, on July 31st, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participation in the workshop is free. The workshop leader is Dr. Sc.
